Langely Pond is home to all types of lake recreation such as jet ski races, boat races, and regattas. On the eastern shore there is a train track that runs though the many nearby towns into the city of North Augusta where it ends. Langley Pond is the pride of Aiken County with sandy beaches, concession stands, boat ramps, and other amenities. Although it may seem large, locals of Aiken County like to make sure that Langley Pond is referred to as a "pond" and not a lake. It is actually the world's largest pond measuring just a few inches short of being a lake. The pond expands approximately 250 acres. Its maximum depth is 19 feet, with an average depth of 4.9 feet.

Langley Pond, offering superb rowing facilities, is a spectacular venue for the rower, official and spectator alike. The Pond offers flat water on a closed course, as well as a fantastic view of the finish line from shore. Langley Pond as a rowing venue was "discovered" when former United States Olympic coach, Igor Grinko found himself searching for a practice area before the 1996 Olympic games in Atlanta, Ga. Upon finding Langley Pond, the venue became the home practice facility of the US Rowing Team for the next 5 years, until the team moved to California.

Langley Pond is the fastest growing rowing venue in the Southeast. It is the only Olympic size course in South Carolina. Visitors from all over the world compete in youth, collegiate and masters events in national and regional competitions annually.
