Georgia Grabs the Tiger by the Tail

The Rowing Team at the University of Georgia made the trip to South Carolina on September 16th, 2006 to scrimmage Clemson University. The Tail of the Tiger Regatta pitted Georgia Crew against Clemson's Varsity and the Clemson Rowing Associaion for a pre-season 5,000 meter race. All teams involved used the event as a warm-up for the coming head races.

In the words of Head Coach Louie Kirchner, "It's a great way to see where we are in terms of training. It's good because we have a few weeks after Clemson to keep building for other races." The Bulldogs always love competition and the scrimmage helps kindle the competitive fire.

Georgia's ten boat entries are a testament to the depth of this year's team. First place finishers include the Men's Varsity 8+, both the Men's and Women's Novice 4+, the Women's Novice 8+, and the Men's Varsity 4+. Numerous other boats placed well and had great rows.

The Crew continues to train for the rest of the season and looks forward to racing in Chattanooga on October 14th.
